Nifty for Fifty indie design sale is back, April 22

Occasionally the title says it all. Nifty for Fifty – a sale featuring nifty goods all for $50 or less – is succinct poetry.
On Sunday April 22, over 25 Vancouver designers and artists will gather under one roof at Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street) for the fifth annual Nifty for Fifty sale, which runs from 11am-8pm. Known as an April Boxing Day for local design, this sale happens only once a year and offers shoppers deep discounts on unique pieces with fine craftsmanship.

Noteworthy participants include print-happy Adhesif Clothing, the chic, Gastown-based Allison Wonderland, leather work master Erin Templeton, and swimwear by Daub + Design. Find out more about participating designers after the jump.
Spotlight on 4 Nifty for Fifty Designers
1) Adhesif Clothing
Adhesif Clothing designer Melissa Ferreira uses new and recycled fabrics to create stand-out, one-of-a-kind garments. Working as a buyer in the vintage clothing industry inspired Melissa to create garments with vintage fabrics that are distinctive and sustainable. Expect wild print blouses, boho dresses and colour that pops.
2) Allison Wonderland
Allison Wonderland designer Allison Smith realizes that a woman’s life is not all about evening gowns; she designs clothes for everyday Vancouver life – i.e.working, running around town and getting things done. Expect easy to pair separates, pretty dresses and sensible outerwear.
3) Erin Templeton
Born and raised in the mountains outside of Vancouver, Erin Templeton started making leather accessories in 1999, while studying shoe making at Cordwainer’s College in London, England. In 2002, she rented the boiler room of Chinatown‘s Modernize Tailors, where she later opened her own storefront/studio, pioneering the design presence in Chinatown.
Erin has been featured in Elle, FLARE and Daily Candy. Expect new and recycled leather bags lovingly handcrafted by Erin.
4) Daub + Design
Daub + Design is a Gastown- based textile design studio, focusing on hand-dyed, locally produced garments. Their eco approach to production means Daub + Design features prominently on the ECO Fashion Week runway.
While it’s hard to single out any one talent at Nifty for Fifty, the approaching beach weather makes this the ideal time to preview Daub + Design’s sweet 2012 swimwear.
Nifty for Fifty takes place April 22, from 11am-8pm at Heritage Hall (3102 Main Street). Make sure you break open the piggy bank beforehand; many vendors will only be accepting cash. Admission is $1 at the door.
